The company also uses advanced Doppler color flow ultrasound technology to conduct Ultrasound screenings that reveal accurate images of body structures. The results from these screenings are shared with the patient’s doctor and the scientific community.

The Lung Institute Makes Remarkable Breakthrough In Application Of Stem Cell Therapy

Stem cell technology has revolutionized medicine practice in the United States. This is a new medical technology that is gaining popularity in the treatment of terminal and chronic diseases. Stem cells are the building blocks of life and are vital to all organisms. These cells renew themselves and replicate to form any tissue in the entire body. What this means is that an adult stem cell from a certain organ can create tissues that can be used by another organ. This is what scientists have called plasticity.

Stem cell therapy has been mostly used by The Lung Institute to treat pulmonary conditions. One of the most common chronic lung ailments in the United Stated is the COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. This is a disease that has affected over 24 million people in this nation. However, recent research by CEDARS has shown remarkable success in the treatment of the disease using the stem cell therapy. The leading institute in the research towards the utilization of the stem cell therapy in the treatment of chronic lung ailments is the Lung Institute located in Tampa.

According to LifeStylesAfter50, the Lung Institute has gained global recognition for their success in the application of the revolutionary and negligibly evasive stem cell therapies for lung ailments. They boast over a century of extensive medical experience. The Institute has doctors with an established patient experience designed with a high concern for patient safety as well as the quality of care. With world class facilities, they have been able to deploy stem cell transplants and utilized autologous stem cells as well as platelet-rich plasma to enhance the healing of damaged tissues. Autologous stem cell therapy is the use of stem cells that are derived from the bone marrow or the blood of the patient.

Lung Institute is known for their recognition of the patient’s unique histories. This is why they provide specified treatments that are unique to their needs. This institute performs thorough scans on each of their clients, focuses intently on the medical history and their current conditions to recommend only the best treatment results possible. The Lung Institute is leading in the use of autologous stem cell therapy. This institute has in fact treated over 3,000 patients since it started operating three years ago. Brazilian Doctor Sergio Cortes Has Some But Not All The Answers About The Zika Virus

Brazil has been trying to solve some of the mysteries that surround the Zika virus for almost a year. The first case of Zika was reported in the state of Parnaiba last April, but Dr. Sergio Cortes believes there were many unreported cases of the virus because many infected people didn’t know they had the virus. The symptoms are flu-like symptoms, and they don’t last very long. Some infected people may not have symptoms at all, according to Doctor Sergio Cortes, Brazil’s top medical doctor.
Dr. Cortes has posted a great deal of information on his website about the Zika virus. But as he mentions, there are still unanswered questions about how the virus acts once it invades the human body. Dr. Cortes does know that the Zika virus is transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito. The same mosquito also transmits dengue and the chikungunya virus. But new information suggests that the virus is spreading by human to human contact. There are several reported cases of the virus being passed to a sexual partner. Dr. Cortes did say that researchers discovered the virus in the saliva, urine and semen of infected individuals.
Dr. Cortes said the main concern about the spread of the Zika virus is the possibility that it is responsible for the outbreak of microcephaly in the same area of Northeastern Brazil that Zika was first reported. Microcephaly is a birth defect in infants. Babies are born with small heads and they usually have brain damage. More than 4,000 cases of microcephaly have been reported in Brazil, and other countries are now reporting cases of the Zika virus and microcephaly. Dr. Cortes thinks that is more than coincidence.
The World Health Organization agrees with Dr. Cortes. The WHO has declared the Zika virus an international public health emergency. There are reported cases in other South American countries as well as in Central and North America. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advises pregnant women not to travel to more than two dozen countries in the Latin America, and the Caribbean where the outbreak is spreading.
The United States continues to report the spread of the Zika virus, and the France reported the first case of Zika a few days ago. Medical researchers are leaning toward human to human transmission for most of the reported cases in the U.S., according to Dr. Cortes, but that assumption has not been verified scientifically. Dr. Cortes also shares information about the Zika virus on his LinkedIn page.

Sleep Apnea Travel Options

While travel is more often than not for enjoyment or business, for people with sleep apnea, travel can bring about the problem of what to do regarding their continuous positive air pressure (CPAP) machines.

Sleep apnea is an involuntary stopping of breathing that takes place while the individual is asleep. The Greek word “apnea” means “without breath.” The National Sleep Foundation says it is very common as it affects more than 18 million Americans.

One of the key warning signs is very noisy snoring while other signs take in obesity, unrelenting morning and afternoon tiredness.

There is helpful information and options for treatments for apnea sufferers while they are away from home, according to a Huffington Post report.

Among the most successful CPAC devices are a travel CPAP machine, which is smaller and more condensed than the conventional CPAP. This is a result of the travel device not including a humidifier. Monitoring and recording sleep data are accessible on countless travel CPAP machines.

The report points out when making a decision with regard to the right type of travel CPAP device be sure to have no doubts about the device’s durability.

The Huffington Post report also suggests oral appliances which install similar to a mouth guard and maintain the jaw frontward to aid in keeping an open upper airway. A medical doctor’s prescription and a visit to a licensed dentist is necessary to take delivery of this appliance.

What’s more, a fairly new device on the market, a nasal valve therapy device, fastens over the nostrils and is held with hypoallergenic masking tape. As the individual takes a breathe, the valve releases and closes up passing the air on to generate resistance on the breathe out that builds up force in the back of the throat to maintain the airway open.

The report also offers tips for traveling with the CPAP devices such as bringing along an extra battery and an extension cord as well as an appropriate adapter. And before packing any device, empty the humidifier tub of any water and keep it empty.

One of the nation’s top sleep apnea doctor’s and consultant, Avi Weisfogel, has nearly two decades of experience in dental care. He has focused much of his career on taking care of patients who have diverse sleep disorders, particularly those with obstructive sleep apnea.

Initially teaching colleagues on the uses of oral appliance therapy in the treatment of sleep disorders through his company, Dental Sleep Masters, Weisfogel helps dentists connect with and assist patients with sleep apnea by providing a business model and a coaching program. Highland Capital Management Wins Another HFM Award

The HFM US Hedge Fund Management Award was recently presented to James Dondero and the Highland Capital Management team. This prestigious award is given to a company that shows great foresight and performance in the hedge fund market. The award was given specifically to the Long/Short Healthcare Fund provided by Highland Capital Management, and this article explains how that fund has become one of the most powerful in America.

#1: Why The Long/Short Fund?

The healthcare fund at Highland Capital Management is the most profound of all the funds at HCM. Jim has made healthcare a priority at Highland Capital Management, and a majority of their funds are in healthcare investments. The healthcare sector is growing so quickly that every investor must some of their money into a healthcare fund. The Long/Short fund is keeping up with the American investment market overall.

#2: Why Jim?

Jim Dondero is one of the most respected geniuses in the investing world. Jim began at American Express nearly 30 years ago, and he started his Highland Capital Management empire soon after. His company has used several investment methods that Jim created himself, and he continues to create new investment strategies that other companies are using to this day. The HFM award was given for the Long/Short fund, but there is a part of the award that appears to go for lifetime achievement in investing.

#3: Will The Long/Short Fund Continue To Grow?

The Highland Capital Management offices are located in Texas, and the Texas healthcare market is booming every day. There are large companies creating massive healthcare networks across the state, and an investment house located in the state is in prime position to perform well. The healthcare fund from HCM could win the HFM Award next year simply because Texas is growing so quickly.

James Dondero has distinguished himself as one of the most prolific investors in history. He has grown a massive empire in Texas without the benefit of being on Wall Street, and he has grown the empire slowly without overextending himself. The real estate market has become another large part of the HCM family, and Jim prefers to keep his company as diverse as possible. Jim has created an empire that can go on long after he retires, and the HFM Award is just one way that the investment community has acknowledged Jim’s excellence.

Holding on by the Skin of Her Shell

The impact humanity has on the environment is undeniable. Without waking up to this fact and taking serious preventative measures, we are sure to destroy not only ourselves, but the rest of the world with us. Where then, does our responsibility fall when confronted with the extinction of a species?

Recently, Dr. Lu Shunqing of China’s Suzhou Zoo coordinated a breeding program to give the world’s last known female of the Yangtze giant soft-shell turtle species a final chance to breed. As of the late 1990’s, she is one of only 4 confirmed surviving members of her species. The rest having fallen to poachers seeking their shells, the Yangtze giant is a prime example of the profound effect humanity has on the environment. Due to a variety of factors, including the female and her mate each being over a century old and an injury to the male’s reproductive organs, fertilizing her eggs is only possible through artificial insemination. Since 2008 Shunqing and his team have persistently attempted fertilization with zero successes. Despite this, the team remains optimistic.

While the nobility behind the breeding program’s efforts is unmistakable, is it truly the responsible approach towards remedying the damage done to these turtles in the name of greed? Or will the story of these giants die along with them, should this prove to be an exercise in futility? No one at Amen Clinics knows. One can only hope and do their best, but in this case, I fear we will never be prepared for the worst.

A Possible Wonder Drug That Rejuvenates Brain and Muscle Cells

Eternal youth has been a quest of humanity for uncounted ages. It has largely, however, been an exercise in futility throughout the bulk of human history. Medical advances over the past few decades have extended lifespans longer than they have ever been in human history, but this has not been accompanied by much of any actual slowing of the aging process. We simply live longer into and through old age. There has been a movement going, which has picked up steam in the past decade. It is called transhumanism, and it seeks, among its other goals, the radical extension of human lifespans. Not just living longer as an incredibly decrepit and feeble old person but actually extending vibrant, youthful years.

Scientists have made a breakthrough along these lines in the form of a drug that has been shown to rejuvenate brain and muscle tissue in mice. The story comes with all the usual caveats that the research is in its early stages, and there’s much work to be done, but this is still big news. The basic theory is that we age because adult stem cells no longer replace our damaged cells. This is where a drug known as Alk5 kinase inhibitor enters the picture as it has been shown to get those stem cells off their duffs and getting them back to work restoring your cells to health. If these results can be duplicated in humans someday, this will represent a major breakthrough in keeping people young and healthy if you ask those on the LinkedIn page at Gravity4.

Moderation or Myth?

David Roodman did not intentionally mean to stumble across this data when he had. His work on studying alcohol and geomagnetic storms were the only queries on his mind. Then came along the idea of moderate drinking and whether or not it does the body more good, or more harm. Recent years and numerous studies tell consumers that moderate drinking does the human heart well. Roodman stands to ask the question: is consumption of alcohol better than abstention? The author points out that there are no trials in the works to even suggest the benefits of moderate drinking. Any information on the subject comes from hands off observational studies that were performed by groups whose low credibility should not be trusted.

These trials were also established on conventional thinking and not randomized trials according to those at Amen Clinics. Roodman concludes that moderate drinking is in fact just a trend, much like some view Facebook. Any drinking, be it binge, moderate, or daily, all have negative health impacts. The studies on this are still in the works and numerous conclusive tests need to confirm or deny Roodman’s conclusions. For example, the metabolization of alcohol is not studied as much as it should be. Researchers still aren’t sure if women digest alcohol quicker than men. Even if studies were conducted to focus on that, it’s still unclear whether different types of alcohol affect men and women respectively. There are numerous variables in these case studies. Roodman has done his best to sort through them but knows there’s a long road ahead. His hopes are that his research can be a step in the right direction.

Tonsil Removal And Lower Cancer Risk

Tonsils as well as adenoids are often removed in children and sometimes adults when the immune system just doesn’t seem to be doing its job. When a person is constantly getting illnesses like strep throat or upper respiratory infections, the tonsils are often the first thing to go. Many people find having this part of the body removed improves the amount of illnesses that a person will have but there might be new evidence that legitimately shows that having your tonsils removed can lower your risk of developing certain types of cancers later on in life.

In the 1950’s, approximately 1,400,000
were performed each year in the United States. Done as a precautionary measure to help prevent future infections, this number declined a bit as years went on. This could have been due to doctors not believing this procedure was worth the risk or people simply developed a better understanding of how to protect and boost the immune system. The otolaryngology department at Johns Hopkins University have recently published their findings that suggests the removal of the tonsils can prevent the development of various oral cancer types. With the increase of HPV in the United States, these findings are very important and the statistics are impressive. A study completed that followed three million Danish patients determined that over the course of thirty-five years, patients who had their tonsils removed experienced a sixty to eighty-five percent decrease in oral based cancers, which obviously is pretty alarming to Torchin.
